Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners Acquires Morecambe Offshore Wind Project

LONDON (Reuters) - Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has agreed to buy an offshore wind project in Britain from COBRA Group and Flotation Energy, the fund manager said on Wednesday.

The 480-megawatt fixed-bottom offshore wind project, called Morecambe, is off the Lancashire coast in the Eastern Irish Sea.

It will have enough capacity to power over half a million households. The project lease was secured in a UK offshore wind leasing round in 2021 and planning applications have been submitted.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Flotation Energy, owned by TEPCO Renewable Power, will remain involved after the transaction as a development partner on the project.

The British government aims to deliver 43-50 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind by 2030 as part of efforts to combat climate change.
