BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungary's foreign minister said on Monday Budapest would "soon" see if it will get guarantees from the European Commission to protect its energy supply.

EU foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels to try to overcome a Hungarian block on extending EU sanctions on Russia over the war in Ukraine.

"The meeting of foreign ministers starts in a minute," Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said in a Facebook post.

"As Ukraine is at the beginning of the agenda, we will soon see if we get any guarantees from the Commission that we will not have to deal with more Ukrainian moves that would pose a threat to our energy supply."
