Severe Disruptions for Eurostar Passengers Due to French Rail Closure
Impact of French Rail Closure on Eurostar Services
PARIS (Reuters) -Eurostar warned passengers on Monday to expect severe disruption and cancellations throughout the day on routes to and from Paris, after a section of the French rail network, operated by France's railway company SNCF, was temporarily closed.
Reasons for Disruption
The high-speed train operator urged travellers to postpone their journeys if possible.
Travel Options for Passengers
"Passengers can exchange their tickets free of charge or request a full refund," a Eurostar spokesperson said, adding that the London-Amsterdam, London-Brussels and Brussels-Amsterdam routes were unaffected by the disruption in France.
Affected Routes
SNCF said the disruption was caused by a power outage near Moussy, around 50 km north of Paris, which began around 8:30 a.m. and is expected to last until late evening as "major repairs" were required.
The disruption affects one of Europe’s busiest international rail corridors at the height of the summer travel season.
