Geberit says Germany infrastructure fund will boost construction sentiment

ZURICH (Reuters) - Germany's planned 500 billion euro ($539.90 billion)infrastructure fund will boost sentiment in the construction industry in the country, Geberit Chief Executive Christian Buhl said on Thursday.

Geberit, which makes pipes and bathroom ceramics, would benefit directly from increased work in public buildings, but get a bigger benefit also from a broader improvement in the sector, he said.

"It gives a positive sentiment into the market, and soon we'll benefit from that, which is also positive for us, obviously," said Buhl after Geberit reported its full-year results.

"The sentiment of consumer confidence is not at a very high level in Germany, and if that goes up with that programme, that will be a more important lever," he added.
