(Reuters) - Spain's European Union-harmonised 12-month inflation rate remained unchanged at 2.9% in February from the period through January, final data released by the National Statistics Institute, or INE, showed on Friday.

The INE's final data of 2.9% confirmed the flash reading of 12-month European Union-harmonised inflation released two weeks ago and the average estimate from analysts polled by Reuters.

Core inflation, which strips out volatile fresh food and energy prices, was 2.2% in the 12 months through February, down from 2.4% in the period through January, but up from the 2.1% flash reading reported two weeks ago, INE said.

Spain's 12-month national consumer prices rose 3.0% in the 12 months through February, up from 2.9% in the period through January.

The final data of 3.0% confirmed both the flash estimate released by INE two weeks ago and the forecasts by analysts polled by Reuters at 3.0%.
