Promising French Teen Skier Dies in Val d'Isere Accident

(Reuters) -Promising French Alpine skier Margot Simond died after an accident while training in Val d'Isere on Thursday, the French Ski Federation announced.

The 18-year-old had been scheduled to compete in the Red Bull Alpine Park event, created by Olympic champion Clement Noel, this weekend. The even has been cancelled following Simond's death.

Organizers said a doctor attempted to resuscitate Simond after she fell but she could not be revived.

French media reported an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
