LONDON (Reuters) -Shell said on Wednesday that "no talks are taking place" after a Wall Street Journal article cited unnamed sources saying Shell was in early discussions to take over rival BP.

“This is further market speculation," a Shell spokesperson said. "As we have said many times before we are sharply focused on capturing the value in Shell through continuing to focus on performance, discipline and simplification."
