European spirits makers rise on mooted tariff reprieve

LONDON (Reuters) -European spirits makers rose on Tuesday on expectations that the sector could be subject to concessions in an eventual trade deal between the United States and the European Union.

Three sources told Reuters on Monday that spirits, some medical equipment and aircraft and parts could receive concessions from a possible baseline tariff for the bloc of 10%.

By 0937 GMT, shares in Remy Cointreau, Pernod Ricard and Campari were up between 1.6% and 3.1%.

"In the spirits sector, the largest beneficiary of a reduction or cancellation of import duties in the U.S. would be Remy Cointreau followed by Campari, and then by Pernod and Diageo," said Equita analyst Paola Carboni.
