(Reuters) -State-owned UK Government Investments (UKGI) on Tuesday appointed veteran J.P. Morgan banker Harry Hampson as Director of Corporate Finance.
UKGI is the British government's hub for corporate finance and governance, managing the state's shareholdings in major companies and advising on corporate finance matters, among other responsibilities.
Hampson's appointment comes at a crucial time for the British government which has been ramping up reforms to attract more investments and boost the country's economic growth.
According to an internal memo seen by Reuters, Hampson left the U.S. bank after a 37-year tenure where he held numerous senior leadership roles across the firm, having been the Global Chair of Investment Banking most recently.
