Aegean Airlines Achieves Record Revenue Amid Strong Travel Demand

(Reuters) -Aegean Airlines, Greece's largest carrier, on Tuesday reported record revenue and passenger traffic for the first nine months of 2025.

Strong travel demand and lower fuel costs countered higher regulatory expenses, the company said, though it warned of operational challenges tied to mandatory engine inspections.

Revenue for the January to September period rose 4% year on year to 1.43 billion euros ($1.67 billion), with net profit up 12% at 148 million euros on passenger numbers that climbed 5% to 13.2 million.

"Demand for air travel remains robust, supported by strong Greek passenger demand as well additional visitors to our country," said Chief Executive Dimitris Gerogiannis.

However, Gerogiannis cautioned that operational challenges persist, including delays from air traffic control and mandatory early inspections on Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, which have grounded 12 aircraft. The company expects the inspection cycle to last about 30 more months, gradually easing from autumn 2026.

Aegean Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, operates a fleet of about 83 aircraft serving more than 160 destinations in 47 countries.

The carrier said it plans to offer 4.9 million seats in the fourth quarter, up 9% from a year earlier, adding new routes, mainly to the Middle East.
