April 1 (Reuters) - Alstom has appointed Martin Sion as its new chief executive officer with immediate effect, the French train maker said on Wednesday.
Henri Poupart-Lafarge Steps Down
Former CEO Henri Poupart-Lafarge has decided not to seek a further term after a decade at the head of Alstom, the company said in the statement.

Engineering and Leadership at ArianeGroup
Sion joins the group with an engineering background and after three years as the CEO of space and defense company ArianeGroup, equally owned by Airbus and Safran .

Under his leadership, Europe's new-generation Ariane 6 launcher, developed by ArianeGroup and the European Space Agency, started its first missions in a context of increased competition from SpaceX and Boeing.
