They were up against some pretty big competition as the largest ever number of the City’s fiercest competitors took to the streets of the capital, upstairs and over bridges to battle it out.

Barclays who were defending their title (held for the last two years) took second place with JP Morgan close behind in third. From the banking world the Top 3 were as follows:

Barclays (overall position 2) – 55:17

JP Morgan (3) – 57:12

Bank of American (4) – 57:30

Olympic legend Michael Johnson, who holds the 400m world record as well as a 21-year world record for the 4x400m relay, was in attendance. Before starting the race, Michael was tasked with getting the runners motivated for the mile long run through the Square Mile.

He had the below to say about the evening:

“The atmosphere has been unbelievable. The unique layout certainly makes it a different challenge from anything I’ve ever experienced. I’m not sure I’d back myself on this course!”

“It was great to see the competitive edge that the City of London has to offer translated onto the track, if you can win this event you’ve certainly earned that right.”
