Commerzbank has appointed Tony Zhang as General Manager Shanghai Branch and Country CEO China. Zhang is also Head of China Corporates Coverage. Zhang is based in Shanghai and reports to Nick Johnston, Regional Board Member Asia.

Zhang joined Commerzbank in April 2019 as Joint Country CEO China, General Manager Beijing Branch and Head of China Corporates Coverage. Prior to this he held roles at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deutsche Bank, Bank of America and Lehman Brothers in mainland China, Hong Kong and US.

In this new role, he is responsible for overseeing the Bank’s business in China, developing business strategies, driving growth and ensuring regulatory requirements are met.

Nick Johnston, Regional Board Member Asia, Commerzbank, commented: ”China continues to be a growth area for the Bank and our clients. Tony will play an important leadership role in this with his longstanding track record in the industry, deep business acumen and knowledge of local regulations.
