Global retailer on course for world first with endless aisle expansion following successful trial period with Ireland franchisees

ebizmarts, a leading POS provider for the Magento retail ecosystem, has today released its new case study with multinational franchise Mothercare, a global retailer for parents and young children.

ebizmarts’ POS technology plugs directly into the Magento international ecommerce platform, enabling Mothercare to securely and automatically accept ecommerce orders in-store. Following a 6-week trial in Ireland in early 2016, Mothercare is already seeing positive feedback from both customers and staff as well as 40% week-on-week growth in revenue and orders through the ebizmarts POS solution.

The Mothercare retail franchise operates 1,400 stores out of 58 markets around the world. Projections indicate that, once the new system is fully embedded, it will account for between 5-10% of total retail sales globally.

Gary Kibble, Global Brand and Marketing Director at Mothercare, commented: “Our pilot in Ireland proves that customers are comfortable with this quicker and more convenient means of purchasing. The app is not just a sales tool, it provides rich product details, images, videos, descriptions and more, assisting our customer advisers in their efforts to improve the customer’s shopping experience.”

Today’s retailers need to deliver a seamless omnichannel experience and Mothercare was happy to share its pioneering global project with a growing international community.

John Fitchett, Managing Director UK & Europe, ebizmarts commented: “We’re delighted to enable Mothercare’s exceptional use of the endless aisle phenomenon, offering a much larger range and capturing orders where they don’t hold stock.

“We understand that solutions for retailers must be effective, simple and successful. Mothercare has now joined the 22,000+ Magento merchants partnering with ebizmarts, making us one of the most recognised brands in the Magento ecosystem. By implementing our POS solution, Mothercare has now taken an important step towards its global omnichannel ambitions.”

Gary Kibble concluded: “Beyond being a versatile payment tool, the ebizmarts POS solution also stood out because it allowed orders to be automatically accepted and released though a secure mechanism, without the need for manual approval. Our ambition is to launch the system into China, supported by the solutions’ capacity to work with a wide variety of payment types. In so doing, we will become one of a pioneering group of western retailers able to take face-to-face payments from Alipay in China.”
