LONDON, March 18 (Reuters) - Former British lawmaker Crispin Blunt has been charged with drugs offences, prosecutors said in a statement on Wednesday.
Blunt was a member of parliament for the Conservative Party, currently the main opposition party in Britain, for more than 25 years before standing down at the July 2024 election.

"We have decided to charge Crispin Blunt, 65, with four drugs offences – one count of possessing a controlled drug of Class A and three counts of possessing a controlled drug of Class B," said Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Crown Prosecution Service’s Special Crime Division.
Police Involvement
Police said the charges followed a visit by officers to Blunt's home in October 2023 in relation to a separate matter.
Upcoming Court Appearance
Blunt is due to appear in court on March 25.
