Communal bleacher seats, table service and food sourcing stories are just a few of the new features set to surprise & excite customers
McDonald’s has opened the doors of its new restaurant in London’s Leicester Square, one of the Capital’s busiest and most iconic public spaces. Projected to serve thousands of people every week, the double-storey space is set to be one of the city’s and the company’s busiest restaurants.

With over 150 seats, the restaurant offers customers a host of benefits designed to promote good times, outstanding service and great food. The restaurant houses cutting-edge digital functionality and multiple ways for customers to order and enjoy their meal.
The signature bleacher bench, provides a multi-level seating opportunity for groups and solo diners, while also serving as a convenient waiting area for collecting your order. High-bench seating adjacent to the bleacher is customised with tablets for dining and online browsing.
Table Service offers a relaxed dine-in option, offering a comfortable dining environment perfect for families. Extra features include mobile phone charging facilities and cut-outs of iconic McDonald’s food that playfully brand the space.
A touchpoint video within the restaurant invites customers to learn about the ingredients McDonald’s uses to prepare its iconic menu and how these are sourced, whilst fresh greenery and upcycled natural materials add a sustainable element to the restaurant’s décor.
The restaurant was officially opened by MP for Cities of London and Westminster, Mark Field, on Wednesday 30 November who commented “Leicester Square is a world-famous landmark and to have such an iconic brand bring its best to the Capital’s customers’ is hugely exciting. The flagship McDonald’s restaurant will also play a significant part in the area’s hospitality economy.”
Franchisee Claude Abi-Gerges, who will operate the new restaurant and has worked with McDonald’s for 22 years, has invested significantly in the store, comments: “We’re delighted to be part of the Leicester Square community with a new state of the art restaurant that offers our customers’ fantastic choice, superb hospitality and modern service. We will continue to invest in the Capital – this new opening will see 150 new jobs alone being created for both full and part time workers locally and is a real vote of confidence in our great city.”
Paul Pomroy, CEO, McDonald’s UK, said: “We are committed to investing in the UK, including London and are confident that our new restaurant in Leicester Square will be an exciting addition to this thriving area of the Capital. We look forward to welcoming locals, tourists and those that work in the area into the restaurant. This major re-development was the perfect place to showcase our Experience of the Future programme.”
