MetLife UK is supporting the Save Our Soldier charity which helps veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Injuries as part of its focus on improving diversity and inclusion.

The charity’s founder Lee Hayward was presented with a $5,000 donation from the MetLife Foundation, the global charitable organisation run by parent company, MetLife, Inc. which is committed to investing $200 million over five years to increase financial inclusion.

He was joined at the presentation at MetLife’s Canary Wharf HQ by a former Royal Marine who has been helped by Save our Soldier as well as veterans from the Wellington Barracks Personnel Recovery Unit.

MetLife UK staff plan further fund-raising throughout the year including selling Snoopy Guardsman iPhone cases and other events to support the charity as part of MVET UK which is celebrating its first anniversary.

Save Our Soldier, based in Bath, is using the grant to help fund a mobile unit to enable it to reach veterans across the UK who need support more quickly.

Clare Stephenson, Diversity & Inclusion Champion at MetLife UK said: “‘Post-traumatic stress injury is a major issue which needs more support and recognition and we are delighted to have been able to help Save our Soldier.”

The charity provides support, advice and counselling for veterans and aims to reduce the number of acute cases suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress which in some instances can take up to 13 years to affect individuals.

People who want to donate to Save our Solider can find out how to support the charity at   saveoursoldier.co.uk/donate and veterans can call the confidential helpline at 01225 430 360.
