March 4 (Reuters) - MSC said on Wednesday it was imposing an emergency fuel surcharge on some trade routes, effective March 16.
The surcharge will be effective on trade routes between Europe and southern Africa, and the North West Continent/Canary Islands route, the world's largest carrier of ocean container cargo said.
Surcharge Rates for Europe to Southern Africa Route
MSC will impose $60 per twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) for standard containers, and $90 per TEU for reefer containers on the Europe to southern Africa route.
Surcharge Rates for North West Continent/Canary Islands Route
On the North West Continent/Canary Islands route, the surcharge will be 25 euros per TEU for standard containers and 35 euros per TEU for reefer containers.
