China Calls for Dutch Action in Nexperia Chipmaker Dispute

BEIJING (Reuters) -China called for practical actions from the Dutch government to resolve a dispute over chipmaker Nexperia and to help affected companies, China's commerce minister said on Thursday.

Minister Wang Wentao made the remark during a video call with Britain's Secretary of State for Business and Trade Peter Kyle, held at the latter's request, China's commerce ministry said in a statement.

Wang said the Dutch government's administrative order that triggered an intervention in Nexperia and a court ruling that removed the company's former CEO and Wingtech founder Zhang Xuezheng were the root cause for the "chaos and turbulence" in the global semiconductor supply chain.

The Dutch government took control of Nexperia on September 30, saying the move was necessary to prevent the company's former CEO from moving European operations to China from its current base in the Netherlands.
