MADRID, April 14 (Reuters) - Spain's fuels supply is not at risk at the moment and the country is in a "privileged situation" compared with European peers, Energy Minister Sara Aagesen said on Tuesday.
Impact of Global Conflicts on European Fuel Supplies
The U.S.-Israeli war on Iran and subsequent blockade of the Strait of Hormuz have sparked a supply crisis, with European airlines calling on the European Union to deploy emergency measures to address growing concerns over jet fuel shortages.
Spain's Response to the Jet Fuel Crisis
Asked whether the Spanish government can guarantee the supply of kerosene, diesel and gasoline, Aagesen said that "at this moment, I can say yes".
Refinery Capacity and Domestic Production
"Our situation is not only robust, it's privileged," she said, thanks to a fleet of eight refineries producing 80% of the kerosene consumed in Spain.
Comparison with European Partners
"This is a very advantageous situation compared to many European partners, where the opposite is true: they are dependent on imports," she said, adding that Spanish refiners have not suffered from supply disruptions.
