Stellantis Q1 2024 Production Performance in Italy
MILAN, April 9 (Reuters) - Stellantis' output in Italy rose 9.5% in the first quarter to 120,366 vehicles, the FIM Cisl trade union said on Thursday, as the new hybrid Fiat 500 and Jeep Compass SUV helped fill production lines.
Passenger Car Output Growth
Passenger car output - excluding light commercial vehicles - rose 22% in the January-March period from a year earlier to 73,841 units, the union added in its quarterly report on Stellantis' Italian production.
Union Reporting and Automaker Response
The trade union regularly publishes Italian production estimates for Stellantis, which the automaker does not usually dispute. Reuters sought comment from Stellantis on the latest figures.
Key Insights from FIM Cisl Report
Full-Year Output Projections
- FIM Cisl chief Ferdinando Uliano said that, thanks to new models, Stellantis' full-year output in Italy could reach about 500,000 units, surpassing figures in 2024, when it assembled 475,000 vehicles.
Historical Production Context
- In 2025, Stellantis turned out fewer than 380,000 vehicles in Italy with output of sole passenger cars down to 213,706, its lowest in more than 70 years, FIM Cisl said this year.
Upcoming Model Launches
- The automaker plans to start production of two more models in Italy this year, the DS 7 and Lancia Gamma SUVs.
Light Commercial Vehicle Output
- In the first quarter, light commercial vehicle output fell 5.8% to 46,525 units, mostly due to reduced painting shop capacity at the Atessa plant, Uliano said.
Stellantis' Role in Italian Auto Industry
- Stellantis, home of historic brands such as Fiat and Alfa Romeo, is Italy's sole major auto producer.
