The MealPlanner, the MedTech company creating solutions in the fight against diet related diseases has begun the development of their new App, MIRA Health-My Insulin Resistance App with the support of an EU-PERMIDES grant & collaboration with the National Netherlands Insurance within the Sparklab program.
Insulin Resistance (IR) is undiagnosed in 90% of the population that suffers from this precursor to serious, life-changing, diet centered disease. IR is the precursor of such health problems as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), infertility, heart disease and diabetes, all of which have reached epidemic proportions, globally.
The MealPlanner combats insulin resistance in three ways:
- Create awareness about IR. Even medical professionals confuse IR with pre-diabetes so public education is important for everyone. The outcome of this education is to get people to diagnose and test for IR from time to time just as we do with breast and prostate cancers.
- With the PERMIDES grant we are creating a self-diagnostic tool to make preliminary diagnoses easy and free for all.
- Our App supports the efforts of people to manage their IR with proper nutrition. The only way to prevent the onset of more serious disease is to learn healthy and mindful nutrition.
In addition to the EU grant the project has received its first 100k seed investment.
