British Medical Association to Ballot Senior Doctors in England for Strike Action
Overview of the BMA's Industrial Action Ballot
Background and Recent Developments
LONDON, March 31 (Reuters) - Britain's doctors' union will ballot senior doctors in England for industrial action after talks with the government failed to make progress and last week's pay award was deemed insufficient, the British Medical Association said on Tuesday.
Details of the Ballot Process
The BMA said parallel ballots of hospital consultants and specialist, associate specialist and specialty doctors would run from May 11 to July 6.
Potential Impact on Healthcare Services
If approved, the move could leave the government facing the risk of industrial action by all doctors working in secondary care in England at the same time.
