Eurenco and Poland's Defense Collaboration

WARSAW (Reuters) -French explosives maker Eurenco is teaming up with Poland's state-run arms group Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and Mesko to produce modular charges and propellant systems for artillery shells, the companies said on Wednesday.

Investment in Ammunition Factories

Poland is leading a European push to boost its defence readiness to deter any possible attack from Russia and is spending 2.4 billion zlotys ($660 million) for a project to build three ammunition factories.

Production Goals and Strategies

The CEO of PGZ said in a statement the joint venture with Eurenco aligns with the company's strategy to build three factories dedicated to 155mm ammunition, marking the first step toward launching a facility focused on producing multi-base powder.

Securing Raw Materials for Sovereignty

PGZ plans to produce at least 600,000 pieces of modular charges per year.

Eurenco also intends to support Poland in securing key raw materials needed for the production of modular charges to help Poland achieve full sovereignty in manufacturing 155mm ammunition.

Poland said in September that British company BAE Systems would help it produce 155mm ammunition rounds.
