Ukraine's Diesel Supply Situation and Market Dynamics
Current Diesel Supply Status
KYIV, March 23 (Reuters) - The Ukrainian diesel market is fully supplied for March, while supplies for April have already been secured for approximately 70%, the energy ministry said on Monday.
Impact of Russian Missile Strikes on Fuel Imports
After Russian missile strikes virtually destroyed Ukraine's domestic refining capacity, it became almost entirely dependent on imported fuel, sourcing supplies from western, central and southern Europe.
Government Measures to Ensure Fuel Stability
"The government holds regular coordination meetings with market participants and relevant authorities to prevent any disruptions to fuel supplies. The situation remains under control," the ministry said in a written statement.
Market Analysis and Import Trends
Supply Levels and Import Volumes
Analysts at Enkorr consultancy said earlier on Monday that the fuel market was fully supplied until the end of March, and daily imports have risen by 3% to nearly 17,000 metric tonnes.
At the current pace of imports, the monthly total could reach 522,000 tons in March, almost the same volume as in March 2025, they noted.
Uncertainty for April Supplies
However, there is no clarity on the situation in April, with suppliers delaying decisions until the last moment, Enkorr said in a report.
"Talks are ongoing, but so far no one is naming specific volumes, guarantees or, let alone, premiums," the consultancy quoted one trader as saying.
Price Fluctuations and Market Response
Another trader added that wholesale diesel prices had jumped by nearly 50% in less than a month because of the Middle East war.

"There is no shortage, nor is one expected," Serhiy Kuyun, head of A95 consultancy, said on Facebook, adding that fuel suppliers have confirmed deliveries for April, although the price has not yet been set.
Potential for Increased Rapeseed Plantings
Impact of Global Events on Biodiesel Feedstocks
Ukraine's deputy economy minister told Reuters last week that the country could boost rapeseed plantings by a third to 1.5 million hectares if the conflict in Iran drags on, as soaring global fuel prices lift demand for biodiesel feedstocks.
