UniCredit Corporate & Investment Banking has appointed Eriks Atvars as Head of Structured Trade & Export Finance (STEF) within Global Financing & Advisory (F&A), effective immediately. He will be based in Munich and report to Richard Burton and Andreas Mayer, Co-Heads of Global F&A.

Mr. Atvars succeeds Jürgen Wienes who has decided to pursue new opportunities outside the bank. Mr. Atvars was previously Head of Infrastructure & Power Project Finance (IPPF) Germany.

In addition to his new role leading STEF globally, Mr. Atvars will lead the STEF Germany team. Serving sovereigns, corporates and financial institutions clients, STEF is responsible for all structured export financing, specifically financing of industrial capital expenditure (CAPEX) covered by an Export Credit Agency (ECA), multilateral agencies or by insurance companies.

Eriks Atvars started his career at UniCredit in 1995 as a Management Trainee in the International Division of Vereins-und Westbank AG, Hamburg. He moved to A/S Vereinsbank Riga (later UniCredit Bank Latvia) in 1998 as a Corporate Relationship Manager before joining the Project Finance team in Munich in 2001. From there Mr. Atvars was involved as originator and asset manager of complex long term project financings around the globe and became Head of the Power and Environment Team in 2010. In 2014 he was promoted to Deputy Head of IPPF. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington School of Business and earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Management from ESMT Berlin.
