BERLIN (Reuters) -German machine and car parts maker Schaeffler is considering breaking into the defence sector, CEO Klaus Rosenfeld told the RTL and NTV broadcasters on Tuesday.

Rosenfeld said "core competences, some of which have been shaped in the automotive supplier industry over the years, are in demand" in the defence sector, and that Schaeffler could "make contributions as a supplier for various weapons systems, whether on land, in the air or at sea."
