Italy's Data Centre Power Requests Surge to 42 GW by March

MILAN (Reuters) -Requests for power connections to set up data centres in Italy reached 42 gigawatts (GW) at the of March, the country's grid operator Terna said on Thursday.

At the end of last year the requests for connections to the high-voltage grid managed by Terna amounted to 30 GW.

Investments in Italy's data centres will double to 10 billion euros in the 2025-2026 period compared with the previous two years as technology heavyweights roll out spending plans, a research hub of Milan's Polytechnic University estimated in January.
