Increased Flight Offerings in Response to Growing Demand
BERLIN, March 10 (Reuters) - Airline group Lufthansa is offering extra flights to Asia and Africa in the coming weeks due to high demand, it said on Tuesday.
Key Additional Routes Announced
Among the routes served by additional flights are Munich-Singapore, Frankfurt-Cape Town and Frankfurt-Riyadh, Lufthansa said.
Special Flights by Austrian Airlines
"Austrian Airlines has already set up 10 special flights from Vienna to Bangkok and back," the group added in a statement.
Drivers Behind the Surge in Demand
Lufthansa pointed to a "rise in demand for long-haul flights at short notice."
Industry Context and Challenges
The global airline industry is experiencing one of its sharpest shocks in recent years as key hubs in the Middle East, like Dubai and Doha, are severely restricted due to the Iran war.
