Key Takeaways

  • The £10.6 million fine reflects regulatory scrutiny on insurers’ capital reporting accuracy under Solvency II.
  • The miscalculation arose from the Solvency II treatment of a whole account quota share reinsurance arrangement, affecting own funds but not IFRS figures.
  • Aviva’s acquisition of Direct Line Group—of which U K Insurance is a principal underwriter—adds complexity to group solvency modeling and regulatory alignment.
